Bahnhofstrasse, Straubing
Straubing's Bahnhofstraße, an important link between the train station and the historic city center, had suffered from the ravages of time, visible in the potpourri of surface coverings, for example. The redesign was based on shared space: an almost completely paved, kerb-free 30 km/h zone with tactile guidance systems and a bright and friendly atmosphere with a high quality of stay. In the central area at Christus-Kirche, the sandstone-yellow GDM.SCADA stone pavements widen out like a square. A local businessman attests: The shine that the street used to have is now returning.
