State Garden Show 2014, Schwäbisch Gmünd
Quite a few Swabians see the LGS as the crowning glory of years of urban redevelopment. The reorganization, including the horticultural show, was made possible by the relocation of the sprawling Bundesstraße 29 from the town center. There was now space for a number of new urban building blocks with a clearly perceptible urban waterway as a defining design element in the public space. The new riverside paths widen and narrow, cut into the embankment or develop into a long bench. The city balconies act as significant signposts to the city of Gmünd.
