State parliament building, Potsdam
The new Brandenburg State Parliament building with its baroque façades based on the design of the former city palace now also has an appropriate esplanade. The award-winning design with large-format concrete and natural stone slabs makes clear reference to historically evolved typologies. By revitalizing the traditional material and design language, the streets and squares around the Alter Markt, Lustgarten and Steubenplatz up to the Neuer Markt can once again be depicted as an urban planning unit.
