The Free State of Bavaria, the federal government and Deutsche Bahn have set themselves the task of making the state's railroad stations barrier-free. The hurdles have now been overcome at the Passau ICE stop; elevators to the platforms and automatic sliding doors, among other things, ensure unhindered mobility. The rail operators have also equipped all new paving with tactile guidance systems for blind and visually impaired travelers. The visual enhancement of the entire facility has also been well received. To ensure that this remains the case, stone coverings with an easy-to-clean proClean surface have been laid as a precaution.
