Integrated secondary school Berlin-Mahlsdorf, Berlin
The growing city of Berlin is working against a shortage of school places. The first modular timber school buildings are being constructed, including the integrated secondary school (ISS) and sports hall in the Mahlsdorf district. Just eleven months after the foundation stone was laid, the new building for 550 children and young people was able to open its doors, followed shortly afterwards by the outdoor facilities with their colorful GDM.SCADA stone paving. The capital's Senate Department for Urban Development and Housing awarded the 2019 Timber Construction Prize for the successful contribution to ecology and building culture.
