Kruisherenhotel, Maastricht (NL)

In the inner courtyard of the 5-star design hotel, Munich-based lighting designer Ingo Maurer developed an exciting dialog between late medieval Gothic and avant-garde design. His building material: white concrete. The impressive spatial experience is created by large GDM.MASSIMO panels and amorphously shaped exposed concrete furniture and lighting installations. The slabs were finished with white granite chippings, acid-treated for a finely roughened texture and finally laid out in a wild pattern. The freely shaped and up to eleven square meter large manufactory components score with almost pore-free surfaces. The key lies in the skillful processing with self-compacting concrete.
