Heat stress and downpours - Berlin is feeling the effects of climate change as well. According to the Senate Department, the growing capital wants to adapt to this with "sophisticated rainwater management, cool retreats and lots of greenery". The SpreeOne Living residential and commercial building in the north of Charlottenburg has adopted this principle. In the green open spaces and roof gardens, climate-friendly outdoor surfaces manage infiltration, evaporation and water storage to cool the air during hot spells. A kind of sponge-city in the high-density inner city.
